Eretria

Eretria is an important natural harbor of Euboea with very rich history. Ancient Eretria was inhabited from the Geometric until the old Christian era.

EretriaImportant Sights in the region are:

• the Ancient Theater of Eretria. The initial structure was built in the 5th century B.C., while after the destruction of the city from the Romen in 198 B.C. was rebuilt, but with cheaper materials
• Macedonian Tomb built in the 4th century B.C.
• the Ancient Tholos. A circular building that erected in the 5th century B.C.
• the "House with the Mosaics". A residence manufactured in 370 B.C. with mosaic flooring with representations of battles.
• the temple of Apollo Daphnephoros.
• the island of Dreams, full of pine trees with tourist installations.

Near Eretria in Amarinthos you can walk on the big dock and go up on the hill Palichoria, see the Byzantine churches and admire the sunset.

Edipsos

In the northern side of Euboea the street leads to Edipsos and Loutra Edipsos, a city known from the antiquity for its therapeutic springs and for the therapeutic attributes of its waters. It is a modern spa city with big tourist growth and many health spas.

In the region you must visit the Cavern of Sylla where the Roman general Syllas visited the springs so as to be cured.

Starting from Edipsos you can go to the peninsula of Lihada, with the beautiful, full of green villages of Gialtra, Loutra Gialtron, Lihada, Agios Georgios and Gerolimano. The peninsula of Lihada has gorgeous beaches with pine trees and at the end of the peninsula are islets of Stroggyli and Manolia. Their beauty is so that one believes that they have escaped from a painting.

Karystos

A very beautiful and modern city and harbor in one of the most southern parts of Euboea built around the homonym gulf. Characteristic landscape of Karystos is the Venetian Tower "Mpourtzi" from the 13th century that dominates the city beach.

Kymi

KymiKymi is built amphitheatrically in a region full of vegetation with a view to the Aegean Sea. Characteristic is its architecture with the stone houses and the paved alleys. Here you can visit the therapeutic spring of Choneytiko and the Folklore Museum.

Fascinating is Steni Dirfys, a traditional village on the slopes of the taller mountain of Euboea Dirfy (1743 m.). It is ideal for winter but also for summer holidays. Its characteristic are the snows in the winter and the running waters in the summertime. Interesting also is the graphic village of Stropones and its seaport to the Aegean, the beautiful beach of Chiliadous and Metochi.

Further on the road takes us to the areas of Vasilika and Ellinika. More to the north is cape Artemisio, that is known from the homonym naval battle during the Greek – Persian wars, and for the copper statue of Neptune, that was pulled out of the waters and is today in the National Archaeological Museum.
