CYCLADES ISLANDS

General Information

SerifosSerifos is in a prestigious place in the north-western side of Cyclades, between Kythnos and Sifnos. Regardless of the crowd of visitors each year, the island has maintained its simplicity. On the island dominate the blue of the sea and the green of the hills.
Livadi is the port of Serifos and leads straight to the capital of the island, Chora, a village with little white houses and a Venetian castle above making it look like a fairytale village.
Near the village Galani is the monastery of Archangels with wall paintings and old books and manuscripts.
The curious rock formations remind human figures and the myth of Perseas, son of Danae and Zeus, who was washed from the sea in ancient Serifos, and he later turned king Polydeykis into stone with the help of the Medusa head.
The Roman emperors used the island as and exile point for the political detainees. The island is also known for the mines of gold and silver, ravaged from Barbarosa.

Serifos has very beautiful beaches like Mega Livadi, Koutala, Agios Sosti, Psili Ammo, Agio Ioanni, Sikamia.
