General Information
Island of the southern Cyclades between Folegandros and Ios. Has an area of 41 sq.km and a population of people. It belongs in the province of Milos.
It is a mountainous island with higher tops: Troulo 620m., Ag. Mama 526m., and Ag. Marina 465m. The island was inhabited from Iones and in 425 BC of was tax tribute to the Athenians. In the Roman and Byzantine years it was used as a place of exile. During the Frank occupation it was attached to the Naxos duchy. From 1537 up to 1821 it was under Turkish administration.
Modern Sikinos has a genuine Cycladic style and character. It is ideal for those who want to have peaceful and authentic holidays.
