MestaMastichochoria (the villages of Mesta, Kalamoti, Vessa, Olimpoi, Elata, Pyrgi) is the only area in the world where the mastic trees grow. These villages have a unique medieval castle architecture.

Among them, the "painted village" Pyrgi. The walls of the houses are decorated with engraved geometric grey and white shapes called "Xista".

In the castle village of Mesta the traditional houses are very close to each other creating a type of fortress, a unique kind of defensive architecture.

• the "Homer stone", on which, according to tradition Homer teached in the area called Daskalopetra. Later research indicates that it is a sanctuary dedicated to goddess Kiveli.

• the Byzantine Castle of Chios, at the north of the port.

• the "Palace Ioustiniani", a 15th century building.

Kampos. A unique built-up and agricultural total that has maintained its character since the 14th cent.
