General Information

Skiathos Skiathos is a beautiful full of green, island of Northern Sporades. Slopes full of pines that reach the sea where a strip of white sand, separates the trees from the sea.
Reaching the harbour we pass from the four islets that secure the entrance of the island. The city is built amphitheatrically on green hills. The paved streets, the white houses with tiled roofs and courtyards full of flowers compose a graphic picture.
In Skiathos, visitors will find tourist shops, restaurants, coffe shops, modern hotels and apartments and many choices for your vacations.

Megali Ammos, Kanapitsa, Xaneros, Megalos Aselinos, Mandraki, Agia Eleni, Banana, Vromolimnos, Ahladies and Tzaneries are some of the beautiful beaches of the island. The beach of Koykoynaries, is one of the most famous in Greece and here the pine cones lean their branches in the sea of the gulf with the sandy beach. You can visit the other beaches of the island with boats and on the way you will admire the marine caves and the beach Lalaria with the holey rock and the round pebbles.
Don’t forget to visit Tsougria the small island across the port.

In the medieval city of the island, Kastro are maintained the ruins of at least 20 monasteries. The pictures from these monasteries have been transported in the churches of the town. Most monasteries are dated from the time of the Ottoman domination and clearly have the influence of Mount Athos monasteries. Even the name of Skiathos, appears to emanate from the words "shade"(skia in Greek) and "Athos".
