General Information
The prefecture of Magnesia is famous for its rich mythological tradition and also for the rare beauty of its landscapes. It took its name, Magnesia from its ancient residents, the Magnets. According to mythology from here Iasonas began his travel to Kolchida with his boat Argo seeking for the Golden Fleece and here was the home of the mythical Centaurs.
Volos is the capital of the prefecture of Magnesia and the third in size harbor of Greece. It is a very beautiful city in front of Pagasitikos gulf and unfolds at the foothills of Pilion. Because of its harbor and its geographic position it is an important industrial, commercial and economic centre. It has very good town planning with beautifully neoclassic buildings, squares, and the seaside with the famous taverns that charm the visitors.
Pilion
Pilion, the mountain of the Centaurs is one the most beautiful places in Greece with forests and overgrown slopes. In the graphic villages of Pilion you will find luxurious hotels and traditional inns where you can enjoy your holidays. Pilion is ideal for walkers and on the winter months for ski in the ski centre. On summertime you can swim in the amazing beaches of Pilion with aquamarine waters and the dense vegetation.
